Saima murder verdict March 9

The Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-1 of Dhaka yesterday fixed March 9 to declare verdict in the case filed over the rape and subsequent murder of seven-year-old Samiya Afrin Saima in the city’s Wari area. Judge Kazi Abdul Hannan of the court fixed the date on Thursday.
On July 8 of last year, lone accused Harun, 26,
made confessional statement in the court admitting his offence in the murder. Earlier, on July 7, Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested Harun from a village under Titas Upazila of Cumilla for killing Saima after rape in Wari of the capital. On January 2 of this year, the court framed charge against the accused.
Nursery-grade student of Silverdale School went missing after going out to play in the afternoon of July 5, last year. Her body was found on the 8th floor of their under-construction building at 8 pm. She would live with her family on the sixth floor of the building.
Her father Abdus Salam filed the case with Wari Police Station of the city a day after the incident.
