This year, Durga Puja celebrations in Bangladesh will be conducted in a secure and joyful manner, thanks to the commitment of the interim government led by Dr. Mohammad Yunus to ensure the safe observance of religious festivals for all minority communities in the country.

Mahfuj Alam, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, made this assurance during a press briefing held at the Dhakeswari National Temple yesterday.

Alam’s statements come amid widespread conspiracies aimed at destabilizing the Yunus government, which took power following the fall of the fascist regime of Sheikh Hasina on August 5. He emphasized that collaborators and spies from the former government have been orchestrating various plots to create chaos, particularly targeting the Hindu community.

“No conspirator, at home or abroad, will find any space to create trouble during this festive season. This is our commitment, and we seek your cooperation in fulfilling it,” he stated while inspecting preparations for Durga Puja, the largest religious festival for Hindus in Bangladesh.

Alam highlighted that community leaders, members of political parties involved in dialogue with the government, students, and those committed to the sovereignty and independence of the nation will remain vigilant to ensure the smooth, safe, and joyful celebration of Durga Puja, as well as other festivals such as Buddha Prabarana Purnima and Kothin Chibor Dan.

He revealed that Chief Adviser Professor Yunus has held meetings with Hindu religious leaders over the past two months to discuss how the government can meet their reasonable demands, which had been largely ignored by the previous administration for the last 15 years.

The Special Assistant reiterated that the interim government is actively engaging with minority communities and is open to addressing their legitimate demands. He assured that the government will provide support to minorities who have faced unwarranted attacks from vested interests.

Present at the press briefing was Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, further reinforcing the government’s commitment to protecting the rights and celebrations of minority communities in Bangladesh.
