Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury on Friday distributed 3,000 blankets among the cold-hit people in the capital.
“We will remain beside the people and provide proper services to them.
We will gradually keep every pledge we gave to the commoners,” he told a blanket distribution ceremony held at Sabujbagh Purba Basabo Prince Garden here.
Saber Hossain said: “You (people) kept trust in the boat symbol and now we will show honour to you. Let’s work together to build a non-communal Bangladesh dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Hasina.”
At the function, the minister also distributed cash among the cold-affected people.
Chaired by Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Ward-5 Councilor Chitta Ranjan Das, the ceremony was attended, among others, by former Vice-Chancellor of Noakhali Science and Technology University Prof Dr M Ahiduzzaman, Professor at Tourism and Hospitality Department of Dhaka University Dr Santosh Kumar Deb, artist of Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra and Bir Muktijoddha Rafiqul Alam, DSCC Regional Executive Officer Suemen Jo and actress Shimla.
