The Bangladesh Chapter of the South Asia Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Journalist Forum was officially formed on Sunday.
Nasir Al Mamoon of the Daily Ajkal has been made as the President, while Shiabur Rahman of The Financial Express as General Secretary.
The SAARC Journalist Forum is an independent, nonprofit
organisation focused on promoting peace, humanity, democracy, human rights, and press freedom globally.
The committee was formed during a meeting held at the National Press Club, chaired by Abdur Rahman, the Central Secretary General of the SAARC Journalist Forum.
The newly appointed office bearers include Vice-presidents, Asif Hasan Nabi (Ajker Probhat) and Shariful Islam (Janakantha), Joint General Secretary Shahed Matiur Rahman (Nayadiganta), Treasurer Reza Mahmud (The New Nation), Executive Members Rafiqul Islam Azad (Daily Industry), Mohd Jahangir Alam (UNB), MA Noman (NTV), Rashed Ahmed (New Age), and Md Mustafa Khan (Ittefaq).
The forum aims to enhance communication among journalists in the region and plans to organise a seminar to discuss the future of SAARC.
