Rupganj (N’ganj) Correspondent :

The overall environment of Rupganj Upazila Health Complex is satisfactory. The 31-bed hospital has been upgraded to 50 beds. The patients have regained confidence in the general public due to improved services and modern facilities.

The employees working in the hospital and the patients coming to the hospital said that the quality of service in this Upazila Health Complex has improved due to the tireless work of Dr. Ivy Ferdous. After joining the Rupganj Upazila Health Complex in 2022, Dr. Ivy Ferdous radically renovated the old dilapidated building and prepared the 50-bed hospital for patient service.

There are 78 health service workers working at the field level under this Upazila Health Complex. 41 people provide services as community health service providers in the seven unions and two municipalities of Rupganj Upazila. In addition, there are 17 doctors, 29 senior staff nurses, 25 office staff, and 24 people working in outsourcing under the Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer.

As part of the hospital automation program, the hospital has set a precedent for the development of the outpatient department. In addition, all types of testing and diagnostic facilities including hormone tests TSH.T3, T4, diabetic tests, HbA, C, lipid profile, ultrasonogram, ECG have been introduced at the upazila level in this 50-bed health complex.

A state-of-the-art four-D ultrasonography machine was added last February. Six MBBS doctors (medicine, surgery, gynecology and others) and 17 nurses are engaged in medical services here round the clock.

Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Ivy Ferdous said that the development of the hospital has been possible with the cooperation of the locals and the efforts of everyone including doctors, nurses and nannies. As a result, it is possible to ensure uninterrupted service. In addition, several plans have been taken which will be implemented soon.

However, in the southern Nabagram area of the upazila, the roads are filled with police stations at various places, causing traffic jams, resulting in suffering for patients coming to receive services. Patients coming to receive services from across the river face some suffering in crossing the river by boat. Since there are no life buoys in the boats, they have to cross the river at their own risk.
