Entertainment Report :
Legendary singer of the subcontinent Runa Laila has joined forces with popular musician Bappa Mazumder for the first time in a mesmerising duet titled ‘Bolechho’.
The song, penned by the talented poet Syed Galib Hasan, features music composed and arranged by Bappa Mazumder himself.
The recording session, which took place on Wednesday evening
in Bappa’s private studio, marked a significant moment in both artistes’ careers.
Lyricist Syed Galib Hasan revealed that the opportunity for this extraordinary collaboration came about unexpectedly and dramatically.
Initially, the song ‘Bolechho’ was envisioned as a solo track for Runa Laila. With that plan in mind, Bappa meticulously composed the music and completed the arrangements.
However, during the final stages, Runa Laila proposed a surprising twist-she suggested the song would work beautifully as a duet.
To everyone’s astonishment, she invited Bappa to join her as the co-vocalist, giving birth to this historic collaboration.
Reflecting on the song, Runa Laila said, “‘Bolechho’ stands as evident to how lyrics can be deeply moving and artistically beautiful. The composition is nothing short of exquisite.
When I first heard it, I felt it would have an even greater impact as a duet rather than a solo.
Bappa, with his rich and soulful voice, was the perfect choice as a co-singer. He has poured his heart into this performance, and the recording experience was one of sheer delight.”
Bappa Mazumder, overwhelmed by the opportunity, expressed his gratitude and excitement.
He said, “Singing alongside a legend like Runa Laila is a privilege beyond words.
This experience is a milestone in my three-decade-long career and a cherished highlight of my musical journey. To compose for an artiste of her calibre was already a tremendous honour.
Initially, ‘Bolechho’ was crafted with her in mind as a solo artiste. But when she suggested I join her in making it a duet, it felt like a dream come true.
This invitation will remain one of the most treasured gifts of my career.”
