After being locked for 16 years, the Ramgarh Press Club (RPC) of Khagrachari was finally reorganized. Angry and deprived journalists took the initiative to reorganize the traditional press club of former sub-division Ramgarh on Sunday (August 11). At the funeral, lastly in 2008, the press club committee was formed with Shyamol Rudra as president and Belal Hossain as general secretary. The club was later locked down. Those concerned said that after many attempts to activate the club which has been closed for a long time, ordinary members and local journalists who could not join the members took the initiative to open the club collectively.
On Sunday, a meeting regarding the club’s reorganization was held in the press club’s conference room. Senior journalist Subhashish Das, member of Ramgarh Press Club, presided over it. Founder General Secretary and Senior Journalist of Press Club Md. Nizam Uddin Lavlu, President of Upazila Press Club Senior Journalist Md. Nizam Uddin, President of Reporters Unity Md. Bahar Uddin, General Secretary Rotan Kumar Boishnab Tripura and others spoke. 15 local journalists actively working in different media were present in the meeting.
Ramgarh Press Club was reorganized by making Md. Nizam Uddin Lavlu (New Nation, Ittefaq) President and Md. Nizam Uddin (Jugantor) General Secretary as an 18-member executive committee by unanimous consent of the journalists present at the meeting. Other members of the committee are Vice President Shubashish Das and Md Bahar Uddin, Joint Secretary Rotan Kumar Boishnab Tripura and Mosharraf Hossain, Finance Secretary Md Sahadat Hossain Kiran. The members are Shyamol Rudra, Belal Hossain, Emdad Khan, Md Mozammel Hossain, Masud Rana, Md Saiful Islam, Tuhin Nizam, Md Johirul Islam, Md Belal Hossan, Md Nurul Alam Sharif and Md Shahed Hossan Rana.
