Robi Axiata PLC has been recognised as “Most Sustainable Telecommunication Company of the Year” category at the SDG Brand Champion Awards 2025 held recently at the Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel in the capital.
Robi received the Honourable Mention award in recognition of its outstanding commitment to sustainability. The company’s actions reflect meaningful, measurable progress: 12.4% of its network towers are now powered by solar energy, generating over 13,534 MWh annually.
This has contributed to the reduction of 1,513 tonnes of CO2 emissions. Robi has also taken strong steps toward circular economy practices by recycling 15.5 tonnes of e-waste and planting over 14,000 trees across the country. These initiatives are aligned with Robi’s science-based targets of reducing operational carbon emissions by 45% by 2030, and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, says a press release.
Furthermore, 10 community-based water purification plants have been installed at major railway stations, benefiting 13 lakhs travelers every month. In addition, Robi continues to support decent work and economic growth through targeted workforce and community development initiatives, reflecting its alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This recognition underscores Robi’s leadership in sustainable business practices and its role in fostering inclusive and responsible development within the telecommunications industry.
