RAB has arrested nine members of a gang involved in a brutal robbery at a DPDC power substation under construction in Fatullah, Narayanganj. Authorities recovered stolen electrical equipment worth Tk 6.5 million, one truck and several homemade weapons from the suspects.
Lieutenant Colonel H. M. Sajjad Hossain, commanding officer of Adamjee RAB-11, announced this information at a press conference at the Adamjee RAB-11 office in Siddhirganj on Tuesday afternoon (23 September).
Earlier, on Monday (22 September), raids in Samad Nagar, Fatullah (Narayanganj) and the Sarulia area of Demra near the capital Dhaka led to the arrests.
Of the nine arrested, Mohammad Liton (37), Mohammad Rafiqul (28), Mohammad Saidul (31), Mohammad Arif (26), Mohammad Sagor Munsi (38), Mohammad Akhtar (44) and Mohammad Roman (32) were held from Samad Nagar in Fatullah, Narayanganj, while Mohammad Riaz (38) and Mohammad Shahidul (40) from the Sarulia area under Demra police station in Dhaka.
Lt. Col. H. M. Sajjad Hossain said that on the night of Sunday (21 September) a gang of 15-20 armed robbers attacked the DPDC substation under construction in the Pilkuni area of Fatullah. The robbers held security guards and construction workers at gunpoint, tied their hands and feet, and beat them.
