Five people were killed in two separate road accidents in the capital’s Uttara and Kafrul areas early Sunday.
In Uttara, around 3:00 AM, a truck ran over three pedestrians—members of the same family—while they were standing at Azampur intersection.
Two died on the spot and the third succumbed to injuries at the hospital.
Their identities are yet to be confirmed.
The truck has been seized, and the bodies sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital morgue, said Golam Mostafa, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Uttara East Police Station.
In a separate accident on the Bijoy Sarani Link Road under Kafrul Police Station, two young men were killed when their motorcycle collided with a speeding microbus.
Sub-Inspector Jannatul Ferdous Badal of Tejgaon Police Station said they responded to a 999 emergency call and rushed the injured to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital,
where both were declared dead. Neither of the victims was wearing a helmet, and both were dressed in shorts and T-shirts.
The damaged motorcycle and microbus have been handed over to Kafrul Police Station.
Police are working to confirm the identities of all the deceased.
