BNP Senior Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Friday cautioned the administration, business community, and media houses about opportunists posing as BNP leaders and activists.

“Some individuals, who previously lived abroad and enjoyed their lives, are now returning and attempting to influence the administration, business sector, and media for their personal gain.

I want to inform the concerned authorities that these fortune seekers do not represent the BNP in any way,” Rizvi said during a press briefing at the party’s Naya Paltan central office in Dhaka.

He highlighted the sacrifices made by BNP members over the past 16 years under what he called a “fascist regime,” stating that many party members were killed, disabled, or lost their livelihoods. “We lost numerous revolutionary leaders for life, and many of our comrades became refugees in their own country, losing their homes, jobs, and businesses,” he added.

Rizvi warned that as the party is regaining momentum after the fall of the previous government on August 5, opportunists are once again emerging. “These fortune seekers are attempting to manipulate the business community and media houses for their own interests,” he said.

He also accused these individuals of attempting to erase the nationalist force by filing fabricated cases and obtaining politically motivated judgments against 6 million BNP leaders and activists, including former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia and acting chairman Tarique Rahman.

Rizvi claimed that a group of individuals left the party, its members, and the country during that time, seeking refuge abroad and living in comfort. Now, after the fall of the government, they are resurfacing and trying to infiltrate different offices by influencing the administration.

BNP Joint-Secretary Generals Habib-Un Nabi Khan Sohel, Advocate Abdus Salam Azad, Mir Sarfat Ali Sopu, Principal Selim Bhuiyan, and Asadul Karim Shahin were present at the event.
