BNP Senior Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has accused the state intelligence agency of attempting to create a political party as a King’s party.
Speaking at a discussion organized by Rajshahi University alumni at the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) on Thursday, Rizvi questioned the purpose of sacrifices made if election outcomes are determined by state intelligence.
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi also expressed concerns over potential efforts by the government to create divisions within the BNP, noting growing public suspicion in this regard.
Addressing the recent fire at the secretariat, he stated that it has raised questions among the public, particularly since it occurred after certain documents were sought.
He further emphasized the sacrifices made by the BNP and other political parties in resisting oppressive laws, criticizing the Cyber Security Ordinance as a continuation of the Awami League government’s restrictive policies. According to him, the ordinance undermines democratic principles.
On another note, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi questioned India’s stance as a democratic country for providing refuge to Sheikh Hasina. He alleged that India has been pursuing a strategic agenda in Bangladesh through Sheikh Hasina and highlighted that, following her departure, all nations except India recognized the changed political scenario in Bangladesh.
