BNP senior leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Saturday accused India of spreading false narratives about Bangladesh to mislead the global community and support the ousted Awami League government.
“Politicians, policymakers, and certain media figures in neighboring countries-particularly those who compromise their integrity-are lamenting the downfall of the despotic ruler Sheikh Hasina,” Rizvi said while speaking to reporters at the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute Hospital in the city.
“They are attempting to deceive the world with fabricated stories, such as claims of Hindu homes being burned and Hindus being killed in Bangladesh. However, in this age of technology, such falsehoods are being exposed,” he added.
During his visit to the injured in the student-led mass movement at the hospital, as part of an initiative by ‘Amra BNP Poribar’, Rizvi criticized the misinformation campaign.
He claimed that India’s propaganda aims to depict Bangladesh as a land dominated by violent and bloodthirsty individuals. Rizvi further alleged that India has been shedding “crocodile tears” for Sheikh Hasina, whom it used to serve its own interests.
He highlighted the arrest of Chinmoy Krishna Das, a former ISKCON member expelled for misconduct, as an example of India’s meddling. “From Delhi to the farthest corners of India, there seems to be an outcry for him. This cannot continue,” he said.
Rizvi emphasized Bangladesh’s sovereignty, achieved through immense sacrifice, and declared that no force can make the nation bow. “This Bangladesh cannot be subdued by veiled threats or intimidation,” he affirmed.
He condemned the recent disrespect toward Bangladesh’s national flag in India and the attack on the Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh in Agartala.
“They have gone so far as to tear down the flag of our beloved, independent motherland. Such actions violate the Vienna Convention and constitute a grave international crime against our diplomatic officials,” Rizvi stated.
The BNP leader accused India of ignoring Sheikh Hasina’s oppressive actions against the people of Bangladesh.
“The suffering I witnessed in the burn unit is beyond words. I have visited many hospitals, but the sheer brutality I saw today was heart-wrenching, like a scene from a horror film. Who will take responsibility for this? How will these victims survive?” he said.
Rizvi held Sheikh Hasina responsible for creating such an atrocious situation before fleeing the country. “Those accountable-from ministers to those who committed these heinous crimes, killing and crippling our people-must face justice at the International Crimes Tribunal,” he concluded.
