The birth centenary celebration of twins Ritwik Kumar Ghatak and sister Pratiti Devi was organised on November 2 in the capital.
The event was organised by the Ritwik Kumar Ghatak and Pratiti Devi Birth Centenary Celebration Committee at Chhayanaut Sanskriti Bhaban. Ritwik and Pratiti were born on the same day, November 4, 1925, in Rajshahi in Bangladesh.
Producer Habibur Rahman Khan, playwright Ramendu Majumder, actor Abul Hayat, Mofidul Haque, Sultana Kamal and many others were present, said a press release.
Ritwik Ghatak Film Society has organised a special programme at Ritwik Ghatak’s residence in Rajshahi. The national anthem and mass music, lamp lighting, discussion on Ritwik and screening of his biopic ‘Meghe Dhaka Tara’ was held from yesterday.
Bangladesh Federation of Film Societies, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) and Bangladesh Short Film Forum have undertaken a year-long programme to celebrate the birth centenary of Ritwik Ghatak.
The inaugural ceremony was held at the National Art Gallery Auditorium of BSA in the capital yesterday. Film ‘Titas is Ekta Nodir Naam’ was also screened.
A special seminar titled “Ritwik Ghatak’s Titas Ekti Nadir Naam Film: Malo’s Epic Creation of Life-Reality” was held at the Bangla Academy in the capital on Tuesday.
Habibur Rahman Khan, Dr Md Selim Reza, Prof Dr Fahmida Akhter, Dr Zakir Hossain Raju and Prof Mohammad Azam were present. Alliance Française de Dhaka hosted ‘Ritwik Ghatak at the Centenary’ yesterday.
Moinuddin Khaled delivered a commemorative lecture. Film ‘Komal Gandhar’ was screened at 4:00pm and film ‘Jantrik’ at 6:30pm organised by Dhaka University Film Society.
The Zahir Raihan Film Institute is organizing an event to commemorate the birth centenary of Ritwik Ghatak at Lalmatia Housing Society School and College on November 4 at 4:00pm. Essay readings, open discussions, and film screenings will take place there.
