Will Jacks hits ton: Resounding victory for Comilla Victorians

Comilla Victorians posted a resounding 73-run victory over Chattogram Challengers in the 29th match of the Ispahani Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Cricket at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, the port city of the country on Tuesday.

Sent into bat first, Comilla Victorians piled up a mammoth total of 239 for the loss of three wickets in the allotted 20 overs and then bundled out Chattogram Challengers for 166 off 16.3 overs.

After yesterday’s outcome, Comilla Victorians collected 12 points from eight matches, while Chattogram Challengers earned 10 points from nine matches.

Comilla Victorians had a formidable start with two openers Litton Das and Will Jacks put on together 86 runs in the opening stand before Litton Das was dismissed by Shohidul Islam.

Will Jacks remained unbeaten with 108 runs.

His 53-ball hurricane innings was laced with 10 sixes and five fours.

Will Jacks was adjudged the Man of the Match.
It is the second century in this year’s BPL edition. Earlier, Towhid Hridoy of Comilla Victorians cracked an unbeaten 108 runs.

Litton Das hammered a windy 60. He hit three sixes and nine fours in his 31-ball knock.

After Litton’s dismissal, one-down Towhid Hridoy (0) was trapped leg before wicket by Shohidul Islam when Comilla’s total was 86 for the loss of two wickets.

After Hridoy’s departure, second-down Brooke Guest (10) was dismissed by Shykat Ali when Comilla’s score was 111 for the loss of three wickets.

After Brooke’s dismissal, Will Jacks and Moeen Ali contribute together 128 runs together for the unbroken fourth wicket partnership before Comilla’s innings came to an end.

Moeen Ali remained unbeaten with 53 runs. His 24-ball typhoon innings had five sixes and two fours.

Shohidul Islam bagged a pair of wickets at the cost of 49 runs.

Chattogram Challengers made a solid start as openers Josh Brown and Tanzid Hasan added together 80 runs in the opening stand before Tanzid Hasan was dismissed by Mustafizur Rahman.

Tanzid Hasan hit a polished 41. His 24-ball knock was studded with five fours and two sixes.

After Tanzid’s dismissal, Josh Brown could stay at the crease for a short period as he was dismissed by Rishad Hossain when Chattogram’s score was 90 for the loss of two wickets.

Brown made 36 from 23 deliveries featuring two sixes and three fours.

Later, third-down Shykat Ali and fifth-down Shuvagata Hom built a remarkable partnership scoring 42 runs in the six-wicket stand before Shuvagata (19) was dismissed by Rishad Hossain when Chattogram’s total was 157 for the loss of six wickets.

After Shuvagata’s departure, Chattogram batters failed to resist Comilla’s bowling attack. Specially Moeen Ali dismissed Sykay Ali in his first delivery of fourth over, removed Al-Amin Hossain in his second delivery of fourth over and fulfilled his hat-trick after bowled out Bilal Khan in his third delivery of his fourth over.

Shykat Ali scored 36 from 11 deliveries including five sixes and a four.

Rishad Hossain and Moeen Ali captured four wickets each giving 22 and 23 runs respectively, while Mustafizur Rahman grabbed two wickets for 46 runs.
