Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer, Shafiqur Rahman has called for the removal of individuals he labeled as “allies of dictator” from all key positions within the state.
He emphasized that these individuals, being marked as collaborators of past autocratic regimes, should no longer hold any office or position within the country.
Speaking at a party conference held on Tuesday morning at Loknath Dighi in Brahmanbaria town, Shafiqur Rahman stated, “The nation wants those identified as collaborators of the Hasina government to be removed from every level of the state. They have lost their moral authority and, therefore, should no longer be paid with taxpayers’ money. They were once the right hand of the killers.”
Highlighting the nation’s expectations from the current government, he warned, “If these collaborators retain in their positions, they will render the state, the government, and the country unsuccessful. They will also try to sabotage this revolution, leading to the death of the people’s dreams. We cannot let that happen.”
Criticizing what he described as the ruling party’s controversial practices, he mentioned the “Ainaghar” (secret detention centers) as one of the discoveries of the Awami League government.
He alleged that only a few fortunate individuals have returned from such places, while the majority have disappeared without a trace. “They have been eliminated; otherwise, they would have returned by now. Their families have not even been informed of where they were buried,” he claimed.
Shafiqur Rahman also accused the ruling party of attempting to create disturbances, saying, “You have seen incidents like the Ansar case; they tried to carry out judicial coups. However, the people of Bangladesh thwarted all their efforts.
Now, they are emerging in a new guise under the cover of Islam. Leaders of the Chhatra League are inciting our youth under the name of a certain religious organization, attempting to create unrest. They carry a specific type of flag, trying to portray Bangladesh as a radical, extremist, and chaotic state before the world. This nation will collectively foil their conspiracies.”
Expressing his vision for a new Bangladesh, Shafiqur Rahman said, “We want to see a Bangladesh where no individual, regardless of gender, race, or ethnicity, is deprived of their rightful dues. People of different religions and communities should unite in social harmony to build a non-violent society. Every child must be guaranteed all rights by the state. When they finish their studies from colleges, universities, or madrasas, they should not have to suffer from the curse of unemployment.”
The event was attended by ATM Masum, Jamaat-e-Islami’s central assistant general secretary, as the chief guest, while the district Jamaat Amir and central Majlis-e-Shura member Mohammad Golam Farooq presided over the conference.
