Remittance inflow surges 23.97pc in first 26 days

Inflow of remittances witnessed a remarkable year-on-year growth of 23.97 percent, reaching US$1933 million in the first 26 days of July, according to the latest data of Bangladesh Bank (BB) issued on Sunday.

During the same period last year, the country’s remittance inflow was $1559 million, according to Bangladesh Bank data.

Expatriate Bangladeshis sent a record $30.04 billion in remittances in the current fiscal year 2024-25, marking the highest amount ever received in a single fiscal year in the country’s history.

This figure reflects a 25.50 per cent increase compared to the $23.74 billion received in the previous fiscal year (FY24), according to the central bank.
In June alone, remittances reached $2.53 billion-up from $2.37 billion during the same month last year.
