Business Report :

The inflow of remittances has maintained its strong momentum, witnessing a year-on-year growth of 13.7 per cent to reach US$1,264 million in the first 16 days of August 2025, according to the latest data released by Bangladesh Bank (BB) on Sunday. During the same period last year, the figure stood at $1,112 million.
From July 2025 to August 16, 2025 – covering the first one and a half months of the current fiscal year expatriates sent home $3,742 million, a sharp increase from $3,026 million during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.
July alone saw a surge of 30 per cent year-on-year, as the country received $2.47 billion, up from $1.91 billion in July 2024. However, compared to June 2025, July’s inflow was 12.22 per cent lower since many migrant workers had already sent higher amounts ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
Additionally, industry insiders note that a renewed sense of patriotism among Bangladeshi expatriates, particularly following the political changeover in August 2024, has boosted formal remittance transfers.
Banking sector data shows Islami Bank Bangladesh received the highest amount of remittances in July, totaling $533 million, followed by Agrani Bank, Bangladesh Krishi Bank, BRAC Bank, Janata Bank and Trust Bank.
