In Sherpur, Bogura, under the initiative of the Project Office of the Poverty Eradication Program PEP (in collaboration with Sumit Foundation and OER and Die Welt, Germany), economic and social assistance was distributed among 50 indigenous communities and extremely poor families.
At this time, a cow was distributed to 1 family, goats to 7 families, food assistance to 6 extremely poor families, house repair to 1 family, medical assistance to 1 extremely poor family, tree saplings to 14 extremely poor families, cash to 16 families, road afforestation to two union parishads, and various types of assistance materials worth a total of 2,74,877/= (two lakh seventy-four thousand eight hundred and eighty-seven) taka were distributed.
The distribution ceremony was held at the Darimukunda office premises of Sherpur Upazila at 11:30 am on July 23 (Wednesday) and was chaired by SIDP Bogra District Field Coordinator Abdul Khalek. Sherpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ashiq Khan spoke as the chief guest.
Special guests included Sherpur Press Club General Secretary Abdul Mannan, Shahbandegi Union Parishad Chairman Mao: Abul Kalam Azad, Mirzapur Union Parishad Chairman Zahidul Islam, PEP General Council Member Maryam Akhter, Mirzapur Union Parishad Administrative Officer Aminul Islam, UP Member, Shahbandegi Union BNP Organizing Secretary Jahangir Alam Mondal, UP Member Nurun Nabi Rubel, Bogra District Field Coordinator Sultan Mahmud, and social activist Sujan Tanti.
