Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) President Col. (retd) Oli Ahmad has expressed concerns regarding the interim government’s progress after nearly two months in office.

While the public harbors significant hopes for the government, anxiety persists due to a perceived lack of progress in reform activities.

He made these remarks during a press conference at the LDP central office in Moghbazar, Dhaka, on Saturday, October 5.

Col. Oli stated, “The people of the country cannot be disappointed under any circumstances. We must all come together to support the government.

The nation requires collective effort to move forward and complete necessary reforms. We are ready to fully cooperate with the government.

Reforms must be implemented, and there is also a need for mental reformation among everyone.”

He remarked, “Upon reviewing the activities of the current interim government, it appears that some advisers are weak in the face of the fascist Awami League government.

This dictatorial regime has committed horrific acts during the mass movements over the past 15 years, leading to the destruction of democracy and the establishment of fascism.

They have devastated the economy, education, health, judiciary, and electoral systems.

Human rights violations, disappearances, murders, torture, oppression of the people, rampant corruption under the guise of mega projects, and large-scale embezzlement have resulted in unprecedented crimes. Therefore, they have no right to engage in politics in this country.”

Col. Oli called for the government to publicly disclose the number of students martyred from any university or educational institution during the mass movements, as well as the count of martyrs from political parties and ordinary citizens.

He emphasised the need for a comprehensive list of the injured to provide clarity on these events.

He also claimed that four LDP activists were martyred and 15 injured during the mass movement.

Furthermore, he highlighted that Durga Puja is a significant event for the Hindu community and stressed the need for cooperation to ensure its success and safety.

He urged the government to take precautionary measures to maintain law and order, cautioning that Awami League supporters could potentially create chaos during the celebrations.

“The Hindu community has repeatedly requested that the government announce a three-day optional holiday for Durga Puja. On behalf of the LDP, we propose that at least two days of optional leave be granted for this occasion,” he added.
