So far, the number of dengue deaths this year has reached 192 in the county.
This information was given by the Health Department on Sunday.
Most of the dengue patients in Sylhet are said to have come from Dhaka. The reason for the low dengue incidence in Sylhet compared to other divisions of the country is the high rainfall.
Sylhet Divisional Health Department Director Dr. Anisur Rahman said that there has been heavy rainfall across Sylhet for the past few days.
He believes that this is playing a role in preventing dengue attacks.
In addition, among those hospitalized with dengue in the last 24 hours, 166 people are in Barisal division, 91 in Chittagong division, 164 in Dhaka division (outside the city corporation), 97 in Dhaka North City, 112 in Dhaka South City, 101 in Khulna division, 37 in Mymensingh division, 54 in Rajshahi division, 17 in Rangpur division and 6 in Sylhet division.
Public health experts say that although the rate of dengue infection in Sylhet region is relatively lower than other regions, the situation can deteriorate quickly if caution is not exercised.
It is especially important to take regular initiatives to control mosquito breeding in garbage and stagnant water in urban areas.
In this regard, officials of the Health Department have called on the local administration and city corporation to strengthen mosquito control activities and raise public awareness.
Sylhet Divisional Health Department Director Dr. Anisur Rahman said, Sylhet is a tourist area.
Those who come to Sylhet from Dhaka or other divisions of the country should stay inside mosquito nets at home or hotels after evening. By doing so, they themselves will be safe and others will be safe too.
