Some eight (08) container ships, the highest number of container ships arrived at Mongla Sea Port in the month of April, 2024 in a month for the first time in the history of the Port since its inception, according to a delayed report received here. On Monday last (April 29, 2024) a container ship carrying huge quantities of machinery, electronic and garment goods.
Makruzzaman Munshi, Deputy Director of Mongla Port authorities disclosed, after the Corona epidemic the arrival of container ships was fallen short abnormally. But after the opening of the long desired Padma Bridge for the traffics and pedestrians, development of operating systems and for other development of Monla Port the arrival of container ships as well as other commercial ships increased to a great extent. The DD of the Port added, on April 29, 2024 a container ship named MV Kota Tenga carrying the national flag of Singapore, MV Kota Banchak, MV Markas Dhaka, MV Markas Chottogram anchored with PP jetty No.07 and other Jetties of Mongla Port. The DD also disclosed, at present 2 container ships are arriving at the Port per week on average.
0n the other hand, port authorities are almost regularly reconciling with the Shipping agents, association of Mongla Customs, Chambers and Commerce’s of Khulna and Bagerhat districts, export-importers and others who are using the Port in order to introduce most ultra modern equipments and devices at the port with a view to making the port as one of the ultramodern Ports of the world. It may be mentioned here that many modern equipments were installed at Port by this time for loading and unloading of goods within a short time. Previously gearless ship did not arrive at the Port for want required equipments at the Port. At present there is no such a problem.
