Since winning the 2008 elections, Awami League president Sheikh Hasina began to assume a fascist character.
She continued to grant different groups unlimited illegal privileges in the power sector.
It can be said that in the last 15 and a half years, these groups have blossomed into a banana tree.
According to a newspaper report on Tuesday, the United Group has looted thousands of crores of taka, especially from the power sector.
The then fascist Prime Minister and her state minister for power allegedly collaborated in this mischief.
In return of mutual help, that state minister for power has been given 80 katha of land at a nominal price next to the 100 feet road of the capital as a bribe, the current value of which is reportedly more than 150 million taka.
The terrible information is that 7 thousand 880 crore taka has been looted just in the name of capacity charge by keeping the power plants idle.
The figure of this robbery is the second highest in the power sector.
The deposed Hasina has cut the pockets of ordinary consumers by building power plants in the name of providing electricity in favour of PDB and selling a large part of that electricity to PDB at high prices.
The looting in the power sector during the fascist Hasina government must be brought under accountability.
It may be mentioned that indemnification was given to all the activities of the previous government in the power sector so that the looting of the sector does not face any question in the future. The ulterior motive of this indemnity is understandable.
Our point is that all the financial misdeeds of the fascist should be properly investigated and the guilty should be brought under the law.
It cannot be allowed that any person or organization will change color and engage in misdeeds again after the change of government. We want a corruption free and accountable society.
To implement this goal, whatever needs to be done, should be done. It is important to complete the necessary works in parallel with the ongoing reform process of the government.
