Syed Shemul Parvez :
The law enforcement agencies are yet to arrest four accused including the masterminds in the case filed over the July 9 killing of scrap metal trader Lal Chand, better known as Md Sohag, near Sir Salimullah Medical College Mitford Hospital in Old Dhaka.
Talking to this correspondent on the issue, Sohag’s family claims that the names of four accused have been omitted from the case filed over the murder. The family members have demanded that all the accused in the case be arrested soon and maximum punishment be meted out.
The agitated family members alleged that accused number 2 Sarwar Hossain Titu is yet to be arrested. Despite being involved in the planning of the murder, the names of Anwarul Haque Roni alias Bhaiya Roni, Qayyum Molla, Rakesh, and Muzaffar Hossain Bablu were not included in the case. Their names have been deliberately omitted.
Manjuara Begum, the plaintiff in the case, said, “Not all the accused in my brother’s murder have been arrested. I demand that all the accused be arrested immediately. All the accused should be arrested and maximum punishment should be ensured.
” Sohag’s wife, Lucky Akhter, said, “Accused number 2 in the case, Sarwar Hossain Titu, has not been arrested yet. He is a terrible person. We are in panic as all the accused have not been arrested. I cannot go out with my children. I cannot send them to school. There is always a fear. I am demanding the harshest punishment for this murder.”
Demanding the immediate arrests of addition of four new accused, Lucky Akhter said, “The names of 23 people were mentioned by the family in the case. But the names of Anwarul Haque Roni alias Bhaiya Roni, Qayyum Molla, Rakesh, and Muzaffar Hossain Bablu, who were involved in the murder, have been omitted. Their names should be added. This murder was planned by them. The murder was planned in Bablu’s office.
But their names have been omitted from the police station.’
Sohag’s niece Bithi Akhter said, ‘My uncle was killed in a planned manner. The real masterminds have not been made accused. Their names should be added. Again, accused number 2 in the complaint has not been arrested yet. He had two mobile phones with him at the time of the incident, which have not been recovered yet.
We want the maximum punishment for the killers.’
When asked, why accused number 2 in the case statement Sarwar Hossain Titu, as well as others accused are still out of trace?, DMP Additional Commissioner (crime & operation) SM Nazrul Islam told The New Nation that we have already arrested 11 persons in this connection. Our especial drive is going to arrest the others accused of the murder. But we are yet to trace their whereabouts, he said.
