After the calamity, bean farmers are seeing the light of hope. Periodic heavy rains caused serious damage to the early beans. In this, most of the 910 hectares of agam bean land was submerged in water, the roots of the plants rotted and the leaves turned yellow due to insect attack. The flowers of the bean plant fall. After draining water from the submerged beans, farmers applied pesticides and fertilizers and tended most of the bean plants. The bean harvest has started for three weeks. Farmers are collecting and marketing beans from it. As a result, bean farmers who were affected by excessive rains are relieved. Farmers are seeing a ray of hope as the price of beans is good.
It is known that even though beans are a winter vegetable, cultivation of advanced varieties and auto varieties of beans has been started for 8 years in the hope of more profit. Beans come to the market before winter and fetch higher prices. Early bean cultivation starts at the end of Jaishtha and the beginning of Asadha.
The harvest starts at the beginning of Bhadra month. This year, due to intermittent heavy rains during the months of Shravan and Bhadra, most of the paddy fields were submerged in water. It results in crop failure. Farmers suffer a lot due to failure to produce on time.
