Rangpur Riders retained their supremacy in the Dutch-Bangla Bank Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Cricket as they thrashed Dhaka Capitals by seven wickets in their fifth match at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
Promising speedster Nahid Rana of Rangpur Riders captured three wickets in the space of 21 runs. Nahid Rana was adjudged the Man of the Match for his superb bowling performance.
After yesterday’s outcome, Rangpur Riders led the points table gaining maximum 10 points from five matches, while Dhaka Capitals remained with naught playing four matches.
Chasing Dhaka Capitals’ fragile total of 111 off 16.3 overs, Rangpur Riders coasted home making 113 for the loss of three wickets when they had 40 balls to spare.
Rangpur had a modest start as opener Azizul Hakim (5) was caught by Jason Roy off Mustafizur Rahman when Rangpur’s score was 17.
Opener Alex Hales and one-down Saif Hassan repaired the damage contributing together 44 runs for the second wicket partnership before Alex Hales was caught by Sabbir Rahman off Mosaddek Hossain when Rangpur’s total was 61 for the loss of two wickets.
In-form Alex Hales hit a polished 44. His 27-ball innings was studded with three sixes and four fours.
Saif Hassan (13) was caught by Habibur Rahman off Alauddin Babu when Rangpur’s score was 72 for the loss of three wickets.
Second-down Iftikhar Ahmed and third-down Khushdil Shah powered their team to reach the victory spot scoring together 41 runs for the unbroken fourth wicket partnership.
Khushdil Shah remained unbeaten with 27 runs. He hit four fours and a sixer in his 13-ball innings.
Iftikhar Ahmed remained unbeaten with nine runs.
Mosaddek Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman and Alauddin Babu got one wicket each conceding 13, 23 and 33 runs respectively.
Dhaka Capitals lost their wickets in regular intervals. They failed to make any notable partnership.
Tanzid Hasan, Jason Roy, Alauddin Babu, Habibur Rahman and Mosaddek Hossain could reach double digit figures scoring 20, 18, 16, 14 and 12 runs respectively.
Besides, Mr. Extra contributed 17 runs to the Dhaka’s total.
Bowlers of Rangpur Riders totally dominated over the Dhaka Capitals’ batters and restricted them to a paltry total.
Akif Javed and Khushdil Shah bagged a pair of wickets each instead of 13 and 14 runs respectively.
Iftikhar Ahmed, Kamrul Islam and Mahedi Hasan picked up one wicket each for eight, 11 and 15 runs respectively.
