A regional workshop aimed at transforming agriculture into a more commercial and technologically advanced sector through good agricultural practices was held on Wednesday (April 23) at the Begum Rokeya Auditorium in Rangpur.
The day-long event was organized under the initiative of the Rangpur Agricultural Zone as part of the Ministry of Agriculture’s flagship initiative—Program on Agriculture and Rural Transformation for Nutrition, Entrepreneurship and Resilience in Bangladesh (PARTNERS).
The workshop was presided over by Md. Sirajul Islam, Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), Rangpur District, while Md. Shafiqul Islam, Additional Director of the DAE, Rangpur Region, attended as the chief guest. Krishibid Abul Kalam Azad, Coordinator of the PARTNERS program, joined as a special guest.
Speakers at the event included Dr. Gour Govinda Das, Additional Program Coordinator; Program Coordinator Abul Kalam Azad; and Agronomist Ashok Kumar Roy, Senior Monitoring Officer of the PARTNERS Program in Rangpur.
Officials from various departments under the Ministry of Agriculture—such as the Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI), Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC), Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI), and Agricultural Marketing Division—along with seed dealers and agricultural extension officers from Rangpur, Kurigram, Lalmonirhat, Gaibandha, and Nilphamari districts took part in the workshop.
The PARTNERS program, led by the Department of Agricultural Extension, is being implemented by seven key organizations under the Ministry of Agriculture, with support from eight additional strategic partner agencies.
The initiative aims to strengthen agricultural resilience, nutrition, and entrepreneurship through coordinated and smart agricultural development across the country.
