Rangpur Division emerge champions

Rangpur Division Cricket team emerged the champions in the National Cricket League (NCL) T20 after defeating Khulna Division Cricket team by eight wickets in the final at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

Chasing Khulna Division’s total of 136 for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs, Rangpur Division sailed home making 138 for the loss of two wickets when they had 18 balls to spare.

Rangpur Division had a solid start with two openers Jahid Javed and Nasir Hossain put on together 61 runs before Jahin Javed was trapped leg before wicket by Sheikh Parvez Jibon. Jahin made 27 from 24 deliveries featuring five fours.

After Javed’s departure, Nasir Hossain was caught by Soumya Sarkar off Afif Hossain when Rangpur’s total was 84 for the loss of two wickets.

Nasir Hossain notched up a polished 46. His 31-ball
innings was laced with five fours and a sixer. He was adjudged the Man of the Match.

After Nasir’s departure, Abu Hasim and Naeem Islam helped their side to reach the winning spot putting together 54 runs for the unbroken third wicket partnership.

Abu Hasim remained unbeaten with 40 runs. His 32-ball knock was belted with five fours.
Naeem Islam remained unbeaten with 19 runs. His 15-ball knock had three fours.
Khulna Division lost their five wickets for 69 runs.

Mohammad Mithun and Mrittunjoy Chowdhury built the only notable partnership scoring together 44 runs in the sixth wicket stand before Mrittunjoy Chowdhury was caught by substitute Rafi Uzzaman Rafi off Alauddin Babu when Khulna Division’ s score was 113 for the loss of six wickets.

Mohammad Mithun hit a captain’s knock of 44. His 32-ball innings was ornamented with three sixes and a four.

Mrittunjoy Chowdhury made 24 from 13 deliveries including two fours and two sixes.

Abdullah Al Amin captured two wickets in the space of 15 runs, while Mohammad Enamul, Iqbal Hosen, Alauddin Babu and Abu Hasim picked up one wicket each conceding 14, 14, 17 and 28 runs respectively.
