NN Report:

Success never arrives by chance. It is built with relentless hard work, perseverance, and unwavering focus. Those who keep their inner light burning become beacons of inspiration for others. One such individual is Abu Yusuf Rana, a proud son of Kirtinagar, Shariatpur. Crossing the borders of Bangladesh, Rana is now a respected officer of the New York City Police Department (NYPD). The sight of him on duty in the bustling streets of New York brings immense pride and joy to Bangladeshis thousands of miles away.

Raised in Middle Badda, Dhaka, Yusuf was the youngest in his family. Financial constraints marked his childhood, but he refused to be defined by them. Instead, those struggles fueled his determination and sharpened his dreams. His deep desire to contribute to society carried him far—today, he serves as a protector of law and order in one of the world’s busiest cities.

In 2014, Yusuf moved to the United States to pursue higher education. He enrolled at New York City College of Technology, majoring in Information Technology. Balancing studies with part-time jobs in restaurants and driving taxis, he faced the harsh realities of immigrant life head-on. Yet every challenge only made him stronger. In 2021, he graduated successfully.

Yusuf joined NYPD in 2018 as a cadet. After years of rigorous training, assessments, and field experience, he took the oath as a full-fledged police officer in May 2025. His achievement is not just a personal milestone but also a source of immense pride for the Bangladeshi community abroad.

His elder brother, Jewel Rana, is already serving with NYPD. Together, the two brothers are now entrusted with safeguarding the people of New York. ‘Yusuf’s achievement is not just a joy for our family but also a matter of pride for our motherland, said Jewel. His honesty and dedication in this demanding profession inspire me every day.’

Yusuf believes that love for one’s homeland never fades, no matter how far one goes. ‘As a son of Bangladesh, I feel proud every day, he shared. While serving on the streets of New York, I always remember that I am working for the people of two nations. For me, this is more than just a job—it is an opportunity to stand by humanity.’

Beyond policing, Yusuf has a strong command of information technology. He is skilled in software testing and Java programming. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, photography, and exploring new skills. He dreams of one day seeing the world from the sky—curious, free, and with a fresh perspective.

Today, Abu Yusuf Rana stands as an inspiring figure to the Bangladeshi diaspora. His journey teaches us that with noble intentions and relentless effort, dreams can indeed become reality. In a world where countless immigrants struggle to find stability, Yusuf proves that determination and integrity can lead to the pinnacle of success.
