Emdadul Haque Rana Sardar, the candidate in Anaras symbol in the Ishwardi Upazila Parishad election, was elected unofficially as chairman by getting 39,170 votes. His nearest rival was Abul Kalam Azad Mintu, General Secretary of Upazila Awami League. He received 37,230 votes.
Ishwardi Upazila Parishad elections were held in the third phase on May 29. After the counting of votes, the results were announced around 10 pm. Mike symbol’s Abdus Salam Khan and Kalas symbol’s Atiya Ferdous Kakli also won as vice-chairmen.
