Rally and procession held in Barishal city on Saturday afternoon amid adverse weather protesting attacks and looting Hindu community and properties across the country.
The protest rally was held in front of Ashwini Kumar Hall, on Saturday afternoon, under the initiative of the Anti-Atrocity Movement. Later a protest march moved on city roads.
Kishore Kumar Bala, district coordinator of the movement and among other BSD coordinator Dr. Manisha Chakraborty, CPB leader Advocate AKM Azad, cultural activities Kajal Das addressed the programme.
The speaker said that miscreants have been setting fires and attacking houses of Hindu in different neighborhoods since August 5. No one came forward to prevent the attack.
There is panic all around among the community and masspeople. This may not be desirable after current new change. Although there is talk of ending discrimination, no action is being taken by any party against these attackers, the speaker added.
The speakers also demanded an investigation into all attacks and torture, as well as 10 percent representation in the Parliament, Minority Protection Commission and Minorities Ministry.
At this time, the speaker announced that the protest programmes will continue for the next two days.
Bhanu Lal Dey, president of Mahanagor Puja Udjapon Parishad, said that they are spending sleepless nights in fear and are not getting the help of any law enforcement agencies.
