Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rains or thunder showers with lightning flashes in all divisions including Dhaka in 24 hours commencing 9am on Monday.

“Light to moderate rain/thunder showers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty wind is likely at many places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh & Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal & Chattogram divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh & Sylhet divisions,” said a Met office bulletin, reports UNB.

One of its associated troughs extends up to the North Bay. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay.

The highest 135 millimeters of rainfall was recorded in Khepupara of Barishal district in the last 24 hours till 6am on Monday.

Widespread rainfall swept across the country on Tuesday, bringing much-needed relief from recent heatwaves but also causing waterlogging and traffic disruptions in several urban areas, including parts of Dhaka, Chattogram, and Khulna.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) reported moderate to heavy showers in most divisions, with forecasts of continued rainfall over the next 48 hours due to a monsoon system active over the Bay of Bengal.
