The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecasted moderate to heavy rainfall in parts of the country over the next three days, starting Friday, due to a well-marked low pressure system over the South Bay of Bengal and surrounding areas.
“Moderate to heavy rains are likely in places in Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet, Barishal, Khulna and Mymenisngh divisions during the 72 hours from 6am on December 20,” reads a BMD bulletin.
“The low pressure area over central parts of South Bay of Bengal and adjoining area has intensified into a well-marked low and now lies over Southwest Bay and adjoining area,” it said.
Its associated trough extends up to North Bay. Ridge of sub-continental high extends up to West Bengal and adjoining area.
Weather may remain dry with temporary partly cloudy sky over the country. Light to moderate fog may occur at places over the country during midnight till morning.
Night temperature may remain nearly unchanged and day temperature may fall slightly over the country.
