A case has been filed with the police station over the incident of stone-pelting by protesters who blocked the railway track for two and a half hours demanding the declaration of Bhairab in Kishoreganj as a district when they tried to leave the Dhaka-bound Coastal Express train.
On Tuesday, Railway Station Master (RMS) of Bhairab Bazar, Md. Yusuf filed a case with Government Railway Police (GRP) Station in Bhairab , naming 100 to 150 unknown accused.
The case alleges that government property worth tk. 1.5 Crore was damaged.
GRP have arrested three people, Fahim, Arman and Sadhan, in connection with the incident.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of GRP, Bhairab Bazar, Saeed Ahmed confirmed this matters.
Earlier, on Monday, local people blocked the railway track for two and a half hours demanding the declaration of Bhairab Upazila as a district.
The blockade lasted from 10 am to 12:30 pm at Bhairab Railway Station. This disrupted train movement on the Dhaka-Chittagong and Sylhet-Kishoreganj railway routes.
At that time, the Dhaka-bound Coastal Express train from Noakhali was blocked at Bhairab station for two hours. After two hours, when the train tried to leave, the blockers started throwing stones like rain.
This damaged the train and injured at least 25 passengers inside the train. Bhairab announces simultaneous road, rail and waterway blockade.
