Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society registered their third win in the Bashundhara Group Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) football beating 10 men Brothers Union Club by 3-1 goals held at Shaheed Bir Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj on Saturday.
In the day’s match, Ghanaian forward Samuel Boateng scored a brace while forward Nabib Newaj Jibon supported him with a lone goal for Rahmatganj. Senegalese midfielder Cheikh Sene scored a lone goal for Brothers Union Club.
The winners’ led the first half by 1-0 goal.
Samuel gave Rahmatganj a deserving lead early in the second minute while after the breather Sene restored the parity for Brothers Union Club in the 70th minute from a spot kick.
Jibon again put Rahmatganj ahead scoring the second goal in the 80th minute while Samuel sealed the victory scoring his second and third goal for Rahmatganj in the 90+6th minute of the match.
The day’s win saw, the traditional old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj raised their tally to nine points from four matches while the all-orange Gopibagh outfit Brothers Union Club remained at their previous collection of seven points playing the same number of matches.
Brothers Union were reduced to 10 men by the referee as Sazzad Hossain were shown direct red card for his unsporting behavior in the match.
Brothers Union Club and Rahmatganj will play their next respective matches against Bashundhara Kings and Fakirerpool Young Men’s Club on December 27 and 28 respectively.
Earlier, Rahmatganj beat Fortis Football Club by 3-1 goals in their league opening match, blanked Chittagong Abahani Limited by 2-0 goals and suffered a 4-1 defeat to holders Bashundhara Kings.
While Brothers Union Club defeated Bangladesh Police Football Club by 2-1 goals in their league opening match, played to a 1-1 goal draw with Fortis Football Club and beat Chittagong Abahani Limited by 2-0 goals.
