Sylhet Bureau : RAB-9 has strengthened security at Kadamtali Central Bus Terminal to bring relief to the Eid journey in Sylhet. RAB’s support center has been launched to protect passengers from the clutches of partygoers and ignorant parties. RAB-9’s support center was officially inaugurated on Wednesday (May 4) afternoon.
At a briefing, RAB-9’s Additional Superintendent of Police (Media Officer) K.M. Shahidul Islam Sohag said that regular patrols are being conducted to prevent robbery, extortion, partygoers and pickpockets at the livestock market. In addition, RAB-9’s Quick Response Team is ready to deal with any unexpected situation. RAB said that RAB-9 has taken various effective measures to provide security to passengers heading home on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, prevent unwanted incidents at the animal market, and alleviate the suffering of passengers at the bus terminal, railway station and launch terminal. In continuation of this, RAB support centers have been launched in Sylhet, Brahmanbaria and Shayestaganj of Habiganj to bring the services of RAB-9 to the doorstep of the people. The services that will be available from the RAB support centers are – primary medical assistance to provide medical care to passengers who fall ill, provision of vehicle repair by skilled mechanics for immediate repair of vehicles damaged due to mechanical defects, and legal assistance is being provided by monitoring them round the clock through CCTV and receiving regular complaints at the said support centers. In addition, the process of detecting counterfeit notes is ongoing through a special booth of RAB-9 in Pashurhat. Special check posts have been set up in the areas under the responsibility of RAB-9 and various types of motor vehicles have been brought under checking. In addition, under the supervision of RAB-9, regular mobile courts are being conducted against food adulteration, ticket black marketing and ticket price increase. RAB-9’s Cyber Monitoring Cell is monitoring round the clock to control any type of cyber crime on the occasion of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha. RAB is also determined to take strict legal measures against any violence or sabotage. In order to ensure the smooth and safe Eid journey of the people, the said activities will continue till 07 (seven) days after Eid.
