A senior officer of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) reportedly killed himself using his service firearm at the RAB-7 Bahaddarhat camp in Chattogram on Wednesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as senior assistant superintendent of police Palash Saha, 37.
According to RAB sources, the incident occurred around 10:30am while ASP Palash was preparing for an operation. He had taken his firearm and entered his office room.
After that colleagues heard a gunshot and rushed to the spot, where they found him with a bullet wound to the head. His service pistol was lying on the floor, and a suicide note was found on the table, said senior ASP (media) of RAB-7, ARM Muzaffar Hossain.
On this issue, Chittagong Metropolitan Police Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Jahangir Alam said, ‘The bullet-riddled body was found in his office room on the third floor of RAB-7 Chandgaon camp. Upon receiving the information, the police went to the spot and recovered the body. We believe that he committed suicide by shooting himself.
A suicidal note written about his family was found at the scene. We are investigating the matter’
He also said, ‘Palash Saha’s body has been recovered and taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
In the note, the police official Palash wrote, “Neither mother nor wife is responsible for my death. I am responsible. I could not keep anyone well. Let my wife take all the gold and live well. The mother’s responsibility is on my two brothers. They should keep my mother safe. Everything except the gold is for my mother. My sister should coordinate.”
