The elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested 42 brokers from four hospitals in the capital’s Sher-E-Bangla Nagar area.
Major Mohammad Nazmullahel Wadud, Deputy Commander of RAB-2, disclosed this at a press conference on Wednesday at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College.

According to RAB officials, the violence and presence of brokers has been increased at different government hospitals of the capital recently.

Various allegations are being raised against them, including taking patients from government hospitals to private hospitals, bothering patients and their relatives with prescriptions, and commission business.

Some dishonest officials are also involved with these brokers.

For this, RAB launched an anti-broker operation, he said.

Major Wadud also said that on Wednesday, 12 brokers were arrested from National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (Hridrog Hospital), 18 from Suhrawardy Hospital, 4 from Shishu Hospital and 5 from National Institute of Traumatology and Ortopaedic Rehabilitation.

“The arrestees have already been sentenced to different terms punishment. We will continue such operations in the future as well”. He said.

Several teams of RAB-2 launched an operation around 11 o’clock that day to eliminate the hospital-based brokers. The mobile court was run by RAB Headquarters Executive Magistrate Mazharul Islam.
