Chattogram Bureau :

Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, Adviser to the Ministry of Labor and Employment and the Ministry of Youth and Sports commented that there is a lack of goodwill on the part of the officials of Chattagram to bring commodity prices under control. He made this comment in a view exchange meeting with officials of Chattagram Division and various offices of the district at Chattogram Circuit House on Saturday.

Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, questioned the role of officials in controlling the rise in commodity prices, said, “I have not received anything about the task force or consumer rights – how many operations have you conducted and how many works have you done?” I was sent the Commerce Secretary’s three-day task force report.

I got the name of Chattogram one day in that report, but your name was not there for the other two days. Task force operations are underway in 40-45 districts. But out of three days in Chattogram, there was no raid on two days. I think, there is a lack of goodwill in this place or there is a matter of non-cooperation with the government.

Asif Mahmud ordered to be tough to break the syndicate and said, “If you can’t do it despite having administrative experience, then we will bring new ones. What will we do with you? You say consumer rights laws are not strict about product prices, but we have provisions for detention under the Special Powers Act.

Then those who are in the syndicate, their special powers should be brought into law. Labor and Employment Ministry Secretary AHM Safikuzzaman, Chattogram Divisional Commissioner Tofail Islam, Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanam were present.
