Staff Reporter:

The Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment has refuted reports claiming that Qatar has stopped issuing visas for Bangladeshi workers, calling them “completely baseless.”

In a press release issued on Thursday, the ministry said the rumours being circulated on social media and in some media outlets are “deliberate attempts by vested groups to mislead the public and create unnecessary confusion.” It urged citizens not to believe or spread such misinformation.

The ministry clarified that Qatar’s labour market remains open to Bangladeshi workers. From September 2024 to September 2025, a total of 111,662 Bangladeshi workers went to Qatar, where currently 425,681 Bangladeshis are employed.

It also dismissed misleading claims about so-called “free visas” for Qatar, stressing that no such category exists.

The ministry warned people to remain vigilant against fraudulent schemes and false job offers.
“Spreading fabricated information about overseas employment is a malicious attempt to create panic,” the statement said, urging the public to rely solely on official government sources for accurate updates on foreign employment opportunities.
