A committee was formed under Chittagong Chamber of Commerce & Industry in the meeting of Port Users Forum held at Camber Aditorium on Saturday with chamber President Mahbubul Alam in the chair.
Former CCCI President MA Laif MP was also present in it as Chief Guest. The aims of the committee is to find out solutions over realization of logical container charges of import consignments. The committee has been directed to ascertain the logical container charges through mutual discussions and cooperations within one week. The committee formed headed by chamber President Mahbubul Alam , MA Laif MP as Advisor, one each from FBCCI, ICC, Ctg Port, Ctg customs, BGMEA, BKMEA, C&F Aents Association and BARVIDA.
The meeting also discussed the matters of NOC or DO, Admn charges, demurrage charge, documention charge etc. Among others, representatives from CP, Ctg Port, BGMEA, BKMEA, Shipping agents, master stevedors agents, port Lighterage Assocn, Port Truck Owners Assoc , Inland Vessels Owners Assoc, Covered Van Owners Assoc, and other port users orgainsationswere present in the meeting. Chairman of PUF and CCCI President Mahbubul Alam said Freight Forwarders are realizing excess charges in the name of NOC or DO , increase the destination services from Tk.2 thousand to Tk.3 thousand as well as shipping agents are also realizing cleaning charge of different rates.
Among others, Chamber director Mahfuzul Hoque shah, BGMEA first vice president Nasiruddin Ahmed chowdhury, Director Anjan Sekhar, C&F President Akhtar Hossain, joint customs commissioner Anamul Karim chowdhury, port terminal manager Enamul Hoque, Showkat Osman, Liaquat Ali Hawladar were present on the occasion, a CCCI release said.
