A public hearing by the National Freedom Fighters’ Council (JAMUKA) was held in Sonargaon Upazila of Narayanganj. From Sunday morning to noon (23 November), hearings for 52 freedom fighters took place at the Sonargaon Upazila Parishad. Recently, freedom fighter Altaf Hossain filed a complaint with JAMUKA claiming that 109 listed individuals were not genuine freedom fighters. In response to that complaint, the council organized this public hearing. Present at the event were JAMUKA Director General Shahina Khatun; members Major (Retd.) Syed Muhibur Rahman, Habibullah Alam, Major (Retd.) Fazlur Rahman, Sadeq Ahmed Khan, and Major (Retd.) Abdus Salam, along with Sonargaon Upazila Nirbahi Officer Farzana Rahman. After the hearing, JAMUKA officials held a press briefing at 3:30 pm in the Upazila Parishad conference room. During the briefing, JAMUKA member Major (Retd.) Syed Muhibur Rahman said that they would conduct an initial review of the allegations and present the findings at a full council meeting, where a final decision
would be made.
