Sylhet Bureau :
Jalalabad Gas T&D System Ltd Managing Director Md. Atiqur Rahman said that public hearing is basically an effective method of taking public opinions in government activities.
Through this, accountability of officials is increased, corruption is prevented and trust between citizens and the government is created. There are various processes to make government offices people-friendly and dynamic, of which public hearing is an important step.
As part of that initiative, Jalalabad Gas has been organizing public hearings regularly so that the opinions of customers can be heard directly. He said that gas is not just a fuel, it is the light of our homes, cooking stoves and the productive power of industries.
It is the responsibility of all of us to ensure that this national resource is used safely and efficiently. He further said that if gas is wasted or stolen, the loss is not only of the government but also of every citizen. Wasting one unit of gas means depriving the rights of another family.
Therefore, he urged customers to be vigilant and requested them to report any leakage or irregularity to the office immediately. He said, we want Jalalabad Gas Office to be a people’s office, where action is taken quickly after hearing complaints, and every customer feels valued.
We are committed to improving transparency, accountability and service quality. We are all citizens of this country and joint owners of this resource. To keep the gas sector sustainable, affordable and safe, the government, administration and people, these three parties, have to work together.
He made the above remarks in the chairman’s speech at the Public Hearing 2025 program at the conference room of Jalalabad Gas Office in Mendibagh of the city on Wednesday at 11 am to improve the quality of service to JGTDSL customers and ensure transparency and accountability in its activities.
