The Indian Premier League (IPL) is finally set to begin on March 22, and just a few weeks later, the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will commence, with defending champions Islamabad United facing Lahore Qalandars on April 11. The 34-match tournament will culminate in the final on May 18.
The upcoming PSL season will be held across four venues in Pakistan: Rawalpindi, Karachi, Multan, and Lahore. Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium will host the most matches, including 13 games along with two play-offs and the final.
The tournament opener will take place in Rawalpindi, which will also host 11 matches, including the opening clash and the first qualifier. Karachi and Multan will each stage five matches.
This season’s PSL will feature three double-header match-days. Three Bangladeshi cricketers are set to participate in the tournament.
Leg-spinner Rishad Hossain has been picked by Lahore Qalandars, wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das by Karachi Kings, and fast bowler Nahid Rana by Peshawar Zalmi through the players’ draft.
Rishad will be the first Bangladeshi player in action, as Lahore will take on Islamabad in the opening match. The following day, both Litton and Nahid will make their debuts.
Nahid’s Peshawar Zalmi will face Quetta Gladiators in the first match of the day, while Litton’s Karachi Kings will play against Mohammad Rizwan’s Multan Sultans in the evening fixture.
Ahead of the PSL’s official start, a special exhibition match will be held in Peshawar on April 8.
