Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel, the deposed Awami League MP and the Organizing Secretary of the Central Awami League, has come under widespread criticism for making ugly and indecent comments about BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman. When his comments spread on social media, it created a strong reaction and widespread anger among netizens.
Politically conscious circles, journalists and ordinary people across Sylhet have spoken out against this comment. The incident of insults targeting Tarique Rahman has created a huge tension between the local BNP and the people. A storm of protest is raging from various quarters.
Abdul Basit Bachchu, a resident of Nadel’s own district, senior journalist and editor of Daily Moulvibazar News, has strongly condemned and protested on Facebook for his offensive remarks.
He said in a Facebook post, “I strongly condemn and protest against the ugly statement made by Awami Fascist fake MP murderer Shafiul Alam Nadel about BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.” He further mentioned that he strongly condemns non-voting MP Nadel for his insults and has been declared undesirable in Hajipur Union of Kulaura for an indefinite period. He called the insults a “naked manifestation of fascist mentality.”
BNP National Executive Committee Joint Organizing Secretary Miftah Siddiqui has condemned and called for the immediate withdrawal of the objectionable statement made by Shafiul Alam Nadel, the organizing secretary of the banned Awami League, who is accused of genocide and is also a fugitive accused in the July uprising and an attack on innocent students, in a talk show on social media.
He called for the immediate withdrawal of this objectionable statement in a statement, saying that Nadel is a fugitive accused in his party’s genocide. In the face of such a person, who is accused in multiple murder cases and is also a fugitive in the attack on innocent students in the July uprising, ugly and baseless comments against the symbol of national unity and the most popular leader of the country not only violate political etiquette, but also set an extremely insulting example in a healthy democratic environment.
He further said that the banned organization Awami League is trying in vain to mislead the people by resorting to propaganda and slander against BNP to hide their misdeeds. But these insults will not be able to affect the popularity of Tarique Rahman, who is loved by millions of people.
Miftah Siddiqui called for the immediate withdrawal of such irresponsible statements, saying that otherwise the people will be forced to resist them.

Qays Lodi said that BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is working for the establishment of democracy and the people’s right to vote. In the continuation of the movement to restore the rights of the people, conspiratorial lies, ugly propaganda and propaganda are being spread against BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman. To counter all these, everyone must work unitedly as per the chairman’s instructions.
He said that some names have played a groundbreaking role in the political history of Bangladesh – their ideals, leadership qualities and contributions have left a permanent mark on the history of the nation. One of these names is Tarique Rahman. He is not only the Acting Chairman of BNP, but also a struggling politician and above all an indomitable symbol of Bangladeshi nationalism. Just as his political journey has been a struggle, he has established himself as a winner of truth and ideals in the test of time. He gives direction amidst confusion and establishes justice and truth against propaganda. We all have to move forward unitedly by confronting all conspiracies.
