A protest rally of teachers and students was held at Barishal University (BU) against the ongoing rape and violence against women across the country. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Suchita Sharmin said incidents like rape, torture, and oppression are happening all over the country, which should be stopped. Rapists and oppressors must be prosecuted.
People of Bangladesh agree on this. Whoever is guilty should be given exemplary punishment. The government should do whatever it takes to ensure that women do not become victims of rape, abuse, oppression, and violence. In the speech of the students, they said that women are being tortured in one way or another. Are girls just consumer goods? Women are not safe anywhere today. We want women’s safety and rights. We want to live and move freely. We want a safe society where men and women have equal rights. They also demanded swift punishment of the rapists and oppressors.
