Protest march held demanding removal of Agailjhara UNO

A group of local people forming rally held a protest march and meeting demanding the removal of Agoiljhara Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Fariha Tanjin, alleging her irregularities and corruption.
The protest march and rally was held at the upazila Sadar on Wednesday.
At that time, the protesters raised various slogans against the Executive Officer Fariha Tanjin, including “One point, one demand, UNO, when will you go, there is no place for corrupt people in Agailjhara.”
Quoting the office assistants of the agitating UNO office Amir Ali and Bilkis Akhter, theyalleged that after distributing only a nominal amount of dates, lamb meat and saree lungi given by the government to helpless and distressed families.
But the UNO sir took the rest to her residence atBarishal in a government vehicle.
Siddiqur Rahman, the certificate assistant of that office, embezzled the money from the mobile court bill by forging the signatures.
Even after giving allegation to UNO Fariha Tanjin in this incident, she did not take any action.
SoAmir Ali and Bilkis Akhter jointly filed a written complaint with the Barishal District Commissioner on March 25.
Due to the victims filing a written complaint with the DC, UNO Fariha Tanjin called office assistants Amir Ali and Bilkis Akhter to her room and verbally abused them.
At that time, she got angry and threw a stapler at office assistant Amir Ali.
In addition, even though her office assistant cum computer typist Matiur Rahman Molla had been transferred to Agoiljhara Upazila for a long time, Fariha Tanjin did not let him sit in his chair.
The gardener of that office, Tariqul Islam, is working in his chair.
Upazila Executive Officer Fariha Tanjinclaimed that the above-mentioned complaint is completely false and baseless.
She said, three employees of my office do not come to the office on time and do not perform their duties properly.
So the three employees are making false allegations against me because they protested various irregularities, including taking 200/100 taka from people who come to the office for services.
Office assistant cum computer typist Matiur Rahman Molla is sick and unable to work, so Tariqul Islam is being used instead.
She also said, “I have been working in this upazila for the past one year. During this time, I have held three mobile courts. After Amir Ali’s signature, he was given 1,000 taka excluding VAT and tax,” said UNO Fariha Tanjin.
