Chhatra Dal leaders and activists protested at the court premises demanding cancellation of Liton’s death sentence.
Speaking at the protest rally organized at the Sylhet Court premises on Monday afternoon,
Sylhet District Jubo Dal President Adv. Mominul Islam Momin, Co-President Advocate Shahjahan Siddiqui, prominent Murbb Haji Shahid Uddin, Sylhet District Chhatra Dal General Secretary Haji Delwar Hossain Dinar, and Organizing Secretary Mufazzal Chowdhury Murshed.
The speakers at the protest rally said that Abdul Malik Liton, a former member of Sylhet District Chhatra Dal, is imprisoned in a drug case due to the political conspiracy of the autocratic Awami League government. The court has sentenced Liton to death in a politically fabricated case and is a victim of revenge by the defeated fascist Awami League government. The court’s verdict should be immediately suspended and he should be released.
The speakers sought the attention of the interim government and the law and justice department to suspend the death sentence of Liton, a victim of political vendetta, and take measures to release him. Leaders and activists of Sylhet district, metropolitan, Gowainghat upazila Jubo Dal and Chhatra Dal were present at the protest rally.
