Properties worth Tk.10 lakh were gutted when a dwelling house belonging to Hasan Hawladae, son of one late Eunus Hawladar of village Purbo Saralia within Morrelganj Sadar Union in Bagerhat district caught fire on Sunday (July 14) afternoon at 2 pm. On seeing the inmates cried out loudly. On hearing the crying the neighbouring people rushed to the spot and tried to extinguish the fire, but in vain. Later, on information a Fire Service unit rushed to the spot and with help of the locals the firemen brought the fire under control after a long fighting. But by this time the dwelling house with all its belongings was burnt to ashes. As a result, the inmates of the were rendered homeless and they are living in open sky.
Md. Jahangir Hossain, the unit leader of the fire service told, just with information we started for the place of occurrence, but due to the bad condition of the roads we failed to the place in time. He added, it is gauged the fire originated from a burning oven of the kitchen.
