Proper management of microcredit and savings of the smaller development organisations at local levels could play vital role in alleviating poverty to bring economic self- reliance to the rural people.
Speakers said this at the concluding ceremony of a four-day training course organised by World Vision Bangladesh (WVB) on ‘Savings & Credit Management’ at its Rangamati Assistance Centre in Fulbari upazila of Dinajpur on Thursday afternoon.
A total of 32 Cashiers of the local level smaller development organisations of Eluari and Aladipur unions under Fulbari upazila participated in the training course.
Earlier, Programme Officer of Fulbari Area Development Programme (ADP) Office of WVB for Eluari and Aladipur unions Pallobi Murmu formally inaugurated the training course on April 21 last.
Deputy Director of non-governmental organisation ‘Proshika’ Sattya Ranjan Saha, its Accountant Zahid Hossain, Trainers Shuvankar Roy and Hossain Shaheed Mukti conducted the training course as resource persons.
Programme Officer of Fulbari ADP Office of the NGO Badal Sangma attended and addressed the concluding ceremony.
The training course was arranged with a view to ensuring sustainability of the local development organisations through strengthening and making those profit-oriented by enhancing professional skills of the Cashiers.
The participants were provided training on role of microcredit in alleviating poverty, importance of savings and its management, small- scale projects and credit management, information management, financial risks and management, importance of maintaining registers, techniques for leading groups and other related issues in the course.
In his concluding speech, Badal Sangma called upon the participants for making best use of knowledge and skill they acquired from the training course for strengthening their respective organisations.
A similar four-day training course on ‘Savings & Credit Management’ for 32 more Cashiers of the local organisations from two other unions also began from today at Bezai Assistance Centre of WVB in Fulbari upazila, Sangma told BSS this afternoon.
